WWII Normandy breakout original UPI teletype news stories

For decades the prime means of transmitting news stories to newpapers
and TV and radio stations was the teletype, often called "the wire."

For sale here are some original UPI stories that were printed out
during WWII on the teletypes in the San Diego newspaper the
Independent. The publisher saved from stories that seem to mostly
cover Operation Cobra, the breakout from Normandy, and the end of the
war when the Germans were falling rapidly.

Teletypes are slow, and long stories were sent in segments, with
cryptic writing before and after each segment so the editor could put
the segments together.
